Forest of Goodwill Fellows
Woodfordia is a place which records its history with place-naming conventions. The names bestowed on these special places on the site are loved and honoured by our community because they represent and record important contributions by Woodfordians or important work by the collective.
Names like the Des Ritchie Forest, The Butterfly Walk or Sacred Forest will live on through the generations as a living history of Woodfordia.
Join the Forest of Goodwill Fellows Campaign
The Forest of Goodwill Fellows campaign offers the opportunity for you to be a part of creating your own forest at Woodfordia.
Four Forests of Goodwill will be planted — each a special place that will grow and bring joy and connection to nature for generations to come. A legacy forest for future generations of Woodfordians to experience and enjoy.
Each Forest of Goodwill Fellow would donate $250,000 to the land fundraising campaign and work with Woodfordia to develop a unique forest of goodwill.
Forest of Goodwill Fellows
Long-time Woodfordians Joanne and Stephen Pronk became our first Forest of Goodwill Fellows in October 2024. Over the course of seven days, three generations of the Pronk family — siblings, daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren — gathered on site to plant the first trees of what would become the Learning Forest. The grove then flourished at The Planting 2025, with the community extending it. The Learning Forest reflects a spirit of curiosity, humility and growth — values that Joanne and Stephen have embodied over decades of involvement. Follow the story of the Learning Forest here.
At the 2024/25 Woodford Folk Festival, long-time Woodfordians Nicola and Percy Ellis became our second Forest of Goodwill Fellows. A cherished part of our community for over 20 years, their support now lives on in the Healing Forest. The grove was established at The Planting and honoured in a special ceremony at the festival, with Percy delivering a heartfelt speech that moved all present. It is a place of quiet reflection and renewal, offering future generations a space to pause, remember and heal. Learn more about the Healing Forest here.
The Forest of Wonder is a living legacy to the generosity of Forest of Goodwill Fellow Annie Quarmby. The Forest of Wonder will be a place where awe and curiosity intertwine. It aims to honour the spirit of discovery that lies at the heart of Woodfordia — a place that inspires us to be present, to question, to care, and to imagine what might be possible. See the details of the upcoming Forest of Wonder here.
